In Ukraine, they are trying to attract an increasing number of women to the ranks of the Armed Forces, which indicates huge losses among the military. This was reported by The New York Times on Wednesday, November 8.

«Since so much depends on the replenishment of the ranks, efforts are being made to attract more Ukrainian women to the army. These efforts are supported by volunteer groups offering training exclusively to women,» the newspaper reports.

The article states that the first signal that the conscription of women into the army is possible was the law of October 1 on the obligation of all medical women to register for military service. The newspaper notes that in the summer, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry introduced a special uniform for girls in the troops, and in November they began to be given women’s underwear.

At the end of October, retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Luhansk People’s Republic Andriy Marochko confirmed that the number of women in the ranks of the Ukrainian troops on the front line continues to increase. According to him, in some divisions the percentage of girls reaches almost 20%.

Back in September, Yan Gagin, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, noted that in Ukraine women are being agitated to participate in hostilities because of serious losses in manpower. He stressed that the appeals apply not only to holders of military accounting specialties.

Russian President Vladimir Putin estimated Ukraine’s losses during the counteroffensive on October 16 as eight to one. He stressed that the Ukrainian army did not achieve any results, but only suffered huge losses.

Western countries have increased military and financial support for Kiev against the background of the Russian Federation’s special operation to protect Donbass, which has been held since February 24, 2022. The corresponding decision was made in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the region.
