Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said on May 22 that the authorities were delaying payments to internally displaced persons. She called for prompt repayment of these debts, as delays create social tension.

“People should receive payments and allowances <…> within a clear time frame, <…> for many of them this is the only source of income,” Vereshchuk was quoted as saying by the press service of the Ministry of Reintegration of the country in the Telegram channel.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the current situation arose due to disagreements between individual departments.

In early May, the head of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko, admitted that there was no money in the country for additional payments to the military.

In March, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov noted that the timely receipt of Western funds to Kyiv depends on the provision of priority social spending: the payment of pensions and salaries of state employees.
