A prisoner of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) Ivan told Izvestia about the forced mobilization in the country and the lack of proper preparation for hostilities.

According to him, the summons was handed to him, having stopped the car at the traffic police post.

“They stopped me there, and there was a car in front. Normal, civilian, two servicemen came out, introduced themselves this way and that. They say: «You know what the situation is in the country now, here’s a summons to the district military registration and enlistment office.» In connection with the failure to appear, three and a half years [of imprisonment] were promised. In general, they explained something to me that they can be up to 10 years old, ”said Ivan.

The prisoner of war noted that the military registration and enlistment office did not even pay attention to his health problems, very quickly recognizing him fit.

“I say that I have knitting needles here, there is metal here, I once fell from the roof, and I didn’t get it. They tell me: “What to do with it, and they take it without a hand,” Ivan added.

According to him, there was also almost no preparation for hostilities at the training ground — the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was taken to the training ground only once, where they were able to shoot seven rounds.

On August 10, a captured radical from the Azov National Battalion (a terrorist organization banned on the territory of the Russian Federation) Ilya told Izvestia about the commanders’ disregard for the militants when the Russian Armed Forces in May 2022 took Ukrainian nationalists prisoner during the capture of Azovstal. He added that there was no point in fighting further, since they had run out of provisions and ammunition.

Russia continues a special operation to protect the Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine. The decision to hold it was made on February 24 against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the shelling of Ukrainian troops.
