Disrespect for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) by President Volodymyr Zelensky and his office could provoke anti-government protests. This was stated by the Ukrainian Major General Serhiy Krivonos in an interview with the Pryamiy TV channel on May 5.

“The authorities have adjusted the rules of the game for themselves. <…> Everyone is already tired of this disrespect for the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the part of politicians,” he said.

According to Krivonos, the soldiers are tired of the fighting, while instead of supporting them, they hear only general phrases in Zelensky’s regular addresses. He added that the state cannot provide all the needs of the front in full.

Krivonos, along with this, drew attention to the fact that the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian troops, Valery Zaluzhny, does not talk about the existing disagreements, since, being a regular military man, he is used to observing discipline in everything. However, in the event of a deterioration in the situation, it cannot be ruled out that he might intervene, the major general admitted.

The Washington Post wrote on April 13 that the United States feared Ukrainians would be disappointed in their country’s leadership due to the ongoing conflict.

Earlier, on April 11, Oleg Soskin, a former adviser to former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, said that Zelensky would have to resign if he did not change his course. He drew attention to the fact that Kyiv hides information about real losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, when in fact a critical situation develops.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
