In the Kyiv region, due to the attack of radicals, the wife of the rector of the Church of the Archangel Michael of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) was hospitalized. This was reported on Saturday in the Union of Orthodox Journalists of Ukraine on May 6.

“Matushka was hospitalized with injuries to her arm and leg,” the organization said in a statement.

We are talking about an emergency that occurred earlier in the day. A group of men in military uniform in the city of Boyarka, Kyiv region, tried to seize the temple of the Archangel Michael. According to the UOC, the raiders turned on the generator, grinder and cut off the door. In 2022, the Ukrainian authorities stepped up their actions against the UOC. They searched the homes of bishops and priests, churches and monasteries, including the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, in order to find traces of «anti-Ukrainian activities.»

In April 2022, the head of the special service, Vasily Malyuk, announced that criminal cases were initiated against 61 clergymen of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church based on the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine.

In the same month, schismatics from the Orthodox Church of Ukraine seized the Intercession Church belonging to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Trebukhov, Kyiv region. In addition, the temple of the UOC in the Chernivtsi region burned down as a result of arson.

In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Kyiv’s persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church had reached a new level.
