A few words from Washington at one time could have prevented the Ukrainian conflict, which the United States and its allies are now unable to win. This was stated on May 23 by American journalist Seymour Hersh in his blog on Substack.

«During the years of President Joe Biden’s tenure in power, America spent $175 billion on waging an unpromising conflict for the American establishment. The conflict can only be resolved diplomatically if rationality prevails in Kiev and Washington, or by a crushing defeat of the understaffed, insufficiently trained and poorly equipped Ukrainian army,» the journalist wrote in the article.

According to Hersh, a diplomatic settlement was rejected at the very beginning of the conflict because of Biden’s irrational views on Russia.

Earlier, on May 4, the Telegraph newspaper reported that former US President Donald Trump had developed his plan to end the Ukrainian conflict, but would not disclose it before the elections. The current American leader Joe Biden said on April 9 that Trump’s plan involves forcing Kiev to make territorial concessions to Moscow, and criticized this idea.

Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, called the possibility of resolving this armed conflict by partially ceding the liberated territories to Russia «political naivety.» In his opinion, this will have negative consequences not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, recalled the need to proceed from the realities on earth in resolving this conflict and take into account that the Russian Federation has accepted four regions into its composition.
