The artillery unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kupyansk direction received 152-mm ammunition with obvious signs of damage. Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) Andrei Marochko spoke about this on October 17, citing his own sources.

“Two vehicles with ammunition for 152-mm guns with obvious signs of damage arrived in the area of the settlement of Kovsharovka. The shells arrived without capping, many have scratches and signs of deformation,” RIA Novosti quotes Marochko.

The officer suggested that this ammunition was collected after the Russian military hit one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ missile and artillery weapons depots.

Earlier, on October 15, German Bild journalist Julian Repke noted that the military equipment supplied by the West to Ukraine does not bring any success to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since it is successfully destroyed by the Russian army.

At the same time, the NYT stated that the West had reached the peak of its ability to support Ukraine. Arms supplies to Kyiv will no longer be as active as before.

The day before, on October 14, former US Army intelligence officer Scott Ritter, in an interview with the YouTube channel Danny Haiphong, noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had suffered colossal losses and were on the verge of complete destruction. The Ukrainian side has “some reserves that it will throw into battle,” but, in essence, the Ukrainian army has been destroyed, he is sure.

Western countries have increased military and financial support for Kyiv against the backdrop of the Russian special operation to protect Donbass, which has been ongoing since February 24, 2022. The corresponding decision was made in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the region.
