French President Emmanuel Macron has decided to postpone his visit to Ukraine for security reasons. This was announced on February 11 by Challenges.

«The French president will not go to Ukraine on February 13 and 14, as planned. The Elysee Palace justifies this postponement, in particular, by security concerns,» the magazine writes.

The publication indicates that representatives of the Union of French Entrepreneurs (Medef) also canceled a planned visit to Kiev.

According to the magazine, Macron also wants to step up support for the country with a new aid package from France and other European countries before traveling to Ukraine. A number of Ukrainian diplomats in Paris, upon learning about the postponement of the visit, «fell off their chairs,» the article notes.

The new date of the trip is still unknown, the publication adds.

Earlier, on January 17, the French leader announced new arms supplies to the Ukrainian side and announced his intention to coordinate them during a visit to Kiev in February. Paris is preparing to supply the Kiev authorities with 40 SCALP missiles and «hundreds of bombs,» he said. Macron also said that France and Ukraine plan to sign an agreement on security guarantees within the next few weeks.
