The Office of the United Nations Commissioner (UN) expressed concern to Kyiv about the treatment of prisoners. This was announced on Friday, February 10, by the official representative of the organization, Marta Hurtado.

“We have expressed concern to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense about the treatment of prisoners of war, including the alleged killings of prisoners of war by the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” she said.

Hurtado also noted that the UN considers the video of the execution of captured Russians by Ukrainian militants that appeared on the Web to be genuine.

“We are aware of this video and we believe it is genuine,” the UN spokeswoman said.

Hurtado added that the organization is also aware of another video that has surfaced on social media, which includes additional footage of the original incident and shows a Ukrainian soldier confessing to the murder, allegedly trying to justify it by claiming that the victims refused to surrender.

“These explanations do not justify the actions of the soldier in accordance with international humanitarian law,” Hurtado said.

A day earlier, the Ombudsman of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) Victoria Serdyukova demanded that international human rights organizations conduct an investigation into the massacre of the Russian military by the Ukrainian military filmed on video.

Earlier that day, the RT channel in the Telegram channel reported on the execution by the Ukrainian military of a Russian soldier who had surrendered.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, pointed out that while the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was “arranging a fight” in the European metropolis, his Nazis, who remained at home, were shooting Russian prisoners of war.

The atrocities of the Ukrainian military have been reported before. So, on January 11, residents of the DPR who returned from Ukrainian captivity spoke about how nationalists tortured them with water and electric current, inserted needles into their joints, burned them with a red-hot stump, and beat them on the ribs.

Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special operation to protect Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine. The decision to start it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the shelling of Ukrainian troops.
