The military of the National Guard of Ukraine was blown up by an American grenade in the city of Irpen, Kiev region. This was reported on March 5 by the publication «Страна.иа «.

The soldier was found dead in a rented apartment on March 2. Neighbors heard the sound of an explosion and called the police. Law enforcement officers entered the apartment and found a corpse there.

«Previously, he was blown up by an American-made M—67 grenade,» a source told the publication.

According to him, four grenades, two smoke bombs and 867 rounds of various calibers were found in the apartment. A criminal case has been opened under the article on careless handling of ammunition marked «accident».

Earlier, in November 2023, assistant to the ex-commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valery Zaluzhny Gennady Chistyakov died in the village of Chaiki in the Kiev region from a grenade explosion. Zaluzhny noted that Chistyakov opened one of the gifts, in which an «unknown explosive device» went off.

A criminal case was opened against the officer who presented the live grenades.
