In Ukraine, 40 cases of physical aggression against journalists were recorded in the first six months. Of these, 10 cases occurred in June.

“In June, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine recorded 10 incidents of physical aggression against media workers. Three of them are related to filming regarding non-compliance with quarantine restrictions. In general, over 6 months of 2020, 40 incidents with the use of force against media representatives were recorded, ”the message says.

One of the most audacious attacks was physical aggression against the filming of the Affects Everyone program for the Inter TV channel in Kiev.

“The result of filming an interview with a 75-year-old woman about the abuse of her family was the beating of journalist Diana Stepanenko, the cameraman, damage to the television camera, destruction of the microphone,” the message says.

Recall that at the end of June, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine recorded two new attacks on journalists related to attempts to prevent them from filming the facts of violation of quarantine. The incidents happened in the Kherson region and in the Dnieper.
