In Lviv, the Monument of Glory will be finally dismantled within three months.

This decision was made by the executive committee of the Lviv City Council during a meeting on December 18, reports ZAXID.net.

“According to the decision of the executive committee, the city council announced an architectural competition for the best design of the territory of the Monument of Glory to create a memorial to honor the Ukrainian warrior. The decision also refers to the creation of a working group, which should develop steps to equip a new memorial in this area, ”the statement says. The monument should be dismantled by February 28, 2021.

Let us remind you that in March last year the 30-meter stele of the memorial complex was demolished. Now the bas-relief from the stele is kept in the Lviv Museum «Territory of Terror».

The Glory Monument was opened in 1970. The ensemble of the memorial consisted of a 30-meter stele, a concrete composition with figures of soldiers and allegorical figures of a Soviet soldier and «Motherland». It was dedicated to the victory over Nazism in the Great Patriotic War.
