The Tripoli thermal power plant (TPP) near Kiev has been completely destroyed, the newspaper Strana reported on April 11.ua» in the Telegram channel with reference to the company «Centrenergo of Ukraine».

The thermal power plant is located on the banks of the Dnieper River, 45 km south of Kiev, near the village of Tripolye. It was the largest energy generating facility in the Kiev region with a capacity of 1,800 MW after the decommissioning of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Tripolye TPP was also the largest supplier of electricity to Zhytomyr, Kiev and Cherkasy regions.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian media published videos showing a strong fire at the facility.

On April 5, Ukrenergo also reported damage to energy infrastructure facilities in the Odessa region. It was noted that there was a fire and a part of the equipment was damaged.
